From Amsterdam to Italia

Here are some more pictures from Amsterdam... cause I'm bored. And trying to find ways not to spend money, which isn't as easy as it sounds. I need to find poor friends...

I got bored today, went out, and bought a bunch of pastries. I think I might be addicted. Anyways, Thursday I am off to Italy to see some aqueducts, drink some wine, and hopefully run into...

I fly like paper, get high like planes

Hello all.... back i am from Amsterdam. It was a great trip, aside from the bed bugs that is. The night we got in is probably the funnest night I have had in Europe so far. We took off from John Lennon international airport. They had a room full of Beatles memorabilia, which was actually the first time i have seen any Beatles stuff in Liverpool.

Now that I think about it, it is kind of nice that Liverpool hasn't turned into a giant Beatles merchandise Kiosk.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT: Giant packs of cigarettes kill!

Anyways.... we meet a cute english girl on the plane who's friend gave us a lift from the airport to the middle of town. He was a real scouser, I couldn't understand a flippin word he said. But we made it in and headed out to check out the town.

Day 1

Before we set foot on the main square by our hostel, this guy in a band, Antwerp Gypsy Ska Orchestra, came up to us and gave us 2 free tickets to his show (He said he was only giving them to hot girls but apparently we were cute enough to get some). We had a few pints and watched Everton (the other premier league team based in Liverpool) play against a dutch team in a EUFA Cup qualifying game, kind of random that a Liverpoolian team was on TV in Amsterdam. We showed up to the show and Caspian hat dance was playing. Pretty much the coolest gypsy band i have ever seen.

We shook our asses for a while then Antwerp Gypsy Ska Orchestra came on. They were pretty boring so we left and checked out a few more bars.

The next day we checked out some museums. We went to the Rijks Museum(Rembrandt) and the Van Gogh Museum. Cool stuff.

The canals in Amsterdam were probably my favorite part, they are everywhere. They really have no purpose except for being awesome. Oh and house boats rock.

Oh and about 70% of the people in Amsterdam ride bikes around instead of cars.
They also have trams running in the streets between pedestrians cars and people, its kind of scary.

The night watch in statue form

Day 2

when we were checking out an outdoor bizzar type street sale some people in costumes and stilts started dancing because... well i dont know dutch people are weird.

We spent half the day riding the canals. We got off to see the ann franke house, just so happened it was Yom Kippour. Who knew? Well i guess jewish people knew, but we didnt.
We caught a liverpool f.c. Game in Amsterdam too, they tied. Just like last game. Bust last night they won 4-2 against Reeding, Torres had 3 goals, what a sexy man.

Day 3

Day three was more walking around the city, more canals, and naps to get ready for an all-nighter before out 9am flight. We also discovered outdoor open urinals! Dan was so excited!

Huge Crowds

Shwarma

We met an american girl from minesota of all places who was working on her second bachelors degree and a guy from wales who spent half an hour telling us why we should be living in whales and not liverpool.

We found a place that served beer in goblets, they also loved The Temptations which was awesome.

Then Pints...

And Pints...

And Pints...

Finally it was time to get some McDonalds breakfast, orange juice, and it was time to catch our plane back to Liverpool.

Oh and here is a video of me dancing to Panic at the disco

So here i am, across the pond in jolly old england. The flight over was long. Our flight got delayed so me and Dan had a few pints to get us ready for the trip.

I chose the watery lasagna while Dan opted for the even more watery KFC bowl of mashed potatoes, green beans, and chicken.

We landed and had just enough cash to pay for train tickets to Liverpool, a tropical Fanta, and a tomato and bacon panene. Nearly broke and hoping to god our credit cards would work when we got to Liverpool, we got on the train at Manchester station.

We met a 40 year old Archeology grad student from Colorado who is also studying at Liverpool, what are the chances. Apparently people still study archeology? I thought after Jurassic Park it kinda lost all of its flare, but thats just me. He was nice and kinda creepy at the same time, hard to pull off but he did it. After finding a hostle, Dan and I ran into two other exchange students from Denmark, Flemming and Lu(or maybe Loo or possibly Lou I'm not really sure). They were a lot more motivated then us in finding a place to live. Just so happens the cheapest flat, and pretty much the only flat we could find to rent for 4 months, was right next door to the Largest Anglican Cathedral in the world. Go figure...

I have heard that Liverpool is one of the... hummm how do I put this.... most dangerous, most muggings, most stabbings, etc, etc... but it seems fine to me. I mean everyone gets drunk a lot, then they drunkenly fight from time to time, but I think thats just British people being British. And everyone is SOOO fucking British. Although I did see a piss drunk man getting thrown out of McDonalds at 4pm...
Anyways... we have walked all over the city, partly to get to know it, partly because we dont know where the hell we are going. We made it down to the water front. Here's a picture of me and the danish folks, Flemming on my right and Lu on my left.

Dan was reunited with his long lost anchor.

A round-the-world race was about to begin in Liverpool Harbor. Me and Dan went up to the American ship, put our hands over our hearts, said the pledge of allegiance, shed a few tears then went on our way, throwing things at the other ships as we passed. GO AMERICA!

There is another Large church in the middle of our campus because why the hell not, giant churches rule.

I love it THISSSS MUCH.

There was a recent influx of poor leprechauns from Ireland. The Scousers used giant rats to get rid of all of them, the Mc's left a mess of luggage everywhere.

The rats ate all but two.. they were burried behind this fence.

It's pretty hilly in Liverpool, kind of reminds me of San Francisco, but more British, obviously.

We are educating our Danish roommates in American lingo. Such as Word, bouncin, Sweet, Howdy, and Don't mess with Texas. They are catching on quick.

Ok well it's time for me to head back to my cathedral.

If you want to bake me cookies or mail me Portillos, shoot me an email and I will give you my address. Till next time...

peace, love, and all that good stuff

OY!

So me and Dan have made it to Liverpool, and we didn't even get in a horrible plane/train/car crash on the way! I don't have a solid internet connection yet but once I do I will put up some pictures and stories and things.

Till then here is a picture of my backyard.

And heres dan making me look stupid...
